Where Is ‘Away?

When you throw it away, Where Is ‘Away?’

That is the question asked by Kyle Theirmann, a 21 year old pro surfer in Santa Cruz, CA.

He has his own video series of short films about current issues, called Surfing For Change. Thiermann focuses on the power you have to create a better world through everyday decisions.

This video is about ending single use plastic, starting with plastic bags and water bottles. The journey takes us to the east side of the island of Oahu, Hawaii and isn't afraid to show you the heartbreaking scenes of pollution caused by plastic that the tourists never see.

Can a surfer kid influence change in how we use plastic?

This is exactly the kind of video we hope goes viral, especially to his young demographic.

Musician Jack Johnson, and Story of Stuff’s Annie Leonard are featured in this journey explaining the power we all have to end plastic pollution.
