Liberating, Simple, and Inexpensive

Here's a great way to save money! For $10 of ingredients, you can make your own laundry soap. The woman narrating says that amount lasts her ONE YEAR.

Even more satisfying than the savings is not purchasing those enormous plastic containers.

How liberating to never buy laundry detergent again! The cheap ones are full of chemicals, and the eco-friendly brands are prohibitively expensive. Needless to say -- they all waste plastic.

If we make our own detergent, we won't be paying for marketing, manufacturing and shipping.

Please note: This concoction calls for Borax, as do many home made cleaning mixtures featured on "earth friendly" sites. Borax is not a non- toxic ingredient and must be handled carefully. You may wish to find another recipe using a substitute, such as washing soda.

I love the folksy tone of this wonderful woman showing us "the recipe"! Very simple! Have fun!
