Good Riddance!

"One product that is virtually impossible to recycle and never bio-degrades is Styrofoam ... something that we know is environmentally destructive and that may be hazardous to our health, that is costing taxpayers money and that we can easily do without, and is something that should go the way of lead paint," said New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, on February 14, 2013.

He also said the taxpayers now have to pay $20 per ton of waste going to landfills that includes Styrofoam. That's because it has to be removed first.

New York has 20,000 tons of Styrofoam going out every year!

Styrofoam bans are in place in about 100 cities in the US, including most of California.

With all the food that is served To Go in New York City, it is fantastic to think that this particular evil packaging will soon be a thing of the past.

Now: How do we reduce all the other plastic packaging used by the food service industry?
