"Give Each Species What It Wants"

Author Michael Pollan speaks here about seeing things from the plants perspective when working in the garden.

He speaks about "giving each species what it wants...let it realize its desires."

It's really permaculture he is speaking about here. How humans can be a beneficial part of the chain, helping to maximize the symbiosis that is inherent in nature.

He explains that our view of nature and growing food has traditionally been an Us Vs. Them zero sum game, with humans winning if nature loses and vice versa.

But when we look closer, and see things from the permaculture perspective, food can be produced in ways that result in more soil, more fertility, more biodiversity at the end of the season than even organic gardening.
