Hoorah for Markham!

Now we're talking! The whole town of Markham, Ontario in Canada has adopted a zero waste philosophy.

That means they are aiming for producing NO garbage. The town center is the headquarters for this astounding initiative: they have a diversion rate of over 95%, meaning almost all of their garbage is diverted from the landfill. It is either recycled, reused or composted.

Everything in the cafeteria, right down to the condiments, tea bags, sugar and milk packets are prohibited if they come in non-recyclable packets. Styrofoam is not in use. All of the single use plates, silverware and cups are compostable.

They even have a hidden camera to catch anyone trying to dispose of garbage illegally!

Spread this news clip far and wide -- this is the future we've been waiting for! Hoorah for Markham Ontario!
