Designed to Work Together

In this lush Food Forest in South Australia, there are 150 different varieties of fruits and vegetables.

The Food Forest is a prize winning triumph of permaculture design. Every element is planted for a reason and every element serves another purpose.

Annemarie and Graham Broookman started this organic paradise 25 years ago. They have learned how to create the optimal symbiotic relationships between crops and everything that grows there.

They've even enlisted some local help from the animal kingdom: a native marsupial, the bettong, a strange looking part rodent/part kangaroo creature who is indigenous to Australia, eats the most common pests and drove all the rats out!

They won the nations top prize for environmental sustainability.

"Sustainable design is the key to our future." says Graham Brookman.
