When Will We Be Able To Use It?

Hempcrete can be used for everything from roof installation to flooring to wall construction. This outstanding building material is energy-efficient, non-toxic and resistant to mold, insects and fire.

Hempcrete is made from hemp, lime and water.

It is to our eyes, a crime that growing hemp is outlawed in the US. The eco-friendly, cost efficient use of hemp for building will remain complicated for now, considering the ban on the industrial hemp production in the United States.

Throughout Europe, the use of hemp for construction purposes is commonplace.

Hope on the horizon: at least one luxury home in the US (Asheville, NC) made of hempcrete is getting a lot of attention.

Come join the CNN team taking a look. Even the walls and the doors are made out of recycled paper!
